While we continue to develop in other service areas, NREN has been proactive in promoting eduroam services in the country. Today, all our member institutions—including a few medical academies—are connected to eduroam. A major milestone for us is the availability of eduroam services at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), with active plans in the pipeline to expand this coverage to other airports and public spaces. This strategic expansion was made possible through a partnership with the Airport Authority, where TIA shares its internet bandwidth and provides its Access Points (APs) to broadcast the eduroam SSID. Although it required persistent advocacy to align the airport authority with our mission to support R&E communities, we are proud to operate eduroam at TIA with zero costs.
